What is financial planning?

The process of a comprehensive assessment of a client’s financial status and goals which allows development of an individualized strategy and plan.  Visit the “Financial Plan Worksheet” under the Forms tab for a step-by-step guide to start building your personal financial plan today!

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. Our initial consultation is complimentary. Bring all your questions! Please visit my “Ask The Advisor” page to call, email, or set an appointment.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes. My fiduciary credentials require that the client’s interest is held above all else.

What are your credentials?

My initial securities and supervisory licenses were earned between 1992 and 1996. I have been a Registered Investment Advisor with fiduciary responsibility for 23 years. Behind that, my strongest credential is my 30 years of advising clients in every swing of the market imaginable. My collegiate credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas State University.  The  knowledge and skills gained in Psychology have served me well in Behavioral Finance. Visit my “About” page for a link to my Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) credential information.

How do you get paid?

As a Fiduciary Money Manager, my initial annual fee starts at 1.5% of assets under management. As assets increase, a downward sliding scale is employed. For a one-time professional opinion and guidance, I will assemble a Financial Plan for $1,000.  Pricing for complicated plans vary, and will be discussed during the complimentary consultation. More traditional brokerage account fees and commissions will be discussed as part of the initial recommendation.

Why should I hire you?

Partnering with a professional financial advisor will provide peace of mind by increasing your success in meeting financial goals. Many of my clients are more focused on their own specialty, professional careers, or other pursuits to devote the time necessary to manage their wealth.  Additionally, I am chosen most often for my experience, knowledge, personality, and educational communication style.

What services do you provide?

Please visit my “Services” Tab for more information on Investor Education, Fiduciary Money Management, Financial Planning, and Traditional Brokerage Accounts. Frequently requested services  include Retirement Income Planning, Tax-Efficient Strategies, and Insurance Reviews.

What is your investment philosophy?

I subscribe to 6 guiding principals that help me govern my investment decisions:

  1. In establishing an investment plan, think long-term but visit the plan annually
  2. Seek quality investments.
  3. Manage risk and taxes.
  4. Rebalance with purpose.
  5. Adhere to tried & true strategies that work, while being open to changing markets and new ideas.
  6. Ignore the noise.
How will you pick investments for me?

I choose investments based on information from our discovery meeting. At that time, we identify your goals, review current market conditions, and discuss available investment products.  My investment recommendations will be based on these conditions in addition to other items such as your tax profile and family dynamics.

How are you different?

Clients most often comment that my communication style is unique. I’m patient and I can bring complex topics into clear understanding.  Additionally, it is uncommon for an advisor to have both 30 years of experience and yet be at the midpoint in her career.

Who are your typical clients?

Most of my clients are the first-generation ‘millionaire next door’ type of person. I work with families, business owners, and retirees. Their prime concern is usually preserving assets and accomplishing a thoughtful way to protect their family and heirs. They’ve worked hard and are looking for tax-efficient strategies and prudent income that lasts a lifetime.  Many of my younger clients are more growth-oriented and investment education is always a key topic.

Why did you leave the big corporate banks?

In short, I left an unsupportive and disengaged corporate environment for a personalized and client-focused home in the private sector.

Sadly, I have watched the services that the big bank’s provide to their advisors diminish. Clients are paying the same, but the trusted advisors they rely on to advocate for them and function well in this highly regulated environment are receiving less assistance each year to accomplish increasingly complicated tasks.

New layers of management have meant many advisors don’t know the individuals supervising their business. What was once a quick phone call by an advisor to an internal corporate expert to solve a problem has turned into a days-long email campaign. This new standard of email-only communication, while adding multiple layers of supervisors fosters apathy and a lack of accountability in the corporate bureaucracy.

I have many more years to serve clients, hopefully, and I love what I do! I moved my practice to the privately-held and well-trusted firm of Fidelity for security of assets, top-tier technology and robust investment products. That’s right: The investments that previously were only available at the big banks are now available through Fidelity Institutional. Finally, I chose La Salle Street Securities to support me in compliance, operations, and advice. This private firm has operated successfully and exclusively with Fidelity for over 30 years.

Less bureaucracy and more direct, personal service with seasoned professionals will help me immensely. I’ll be able to speak with them directly and we will know each other personally. Concern and accountability increase with personal service. And, a happy, well-supported advisor has more time and energy to devote directly to the clients she serves!

Do you meet clients in person?

This varies for each client depending on geographic circumstances, needs, and preference.  I travel to many states, and I am always available by phone, email, and Zoom, as well.

How do I get started working with you?

Simply visit my “Ask The Advisor” page and choose a method of communication that works best for you. You can set an appointment time for me to call you, you can email me anytime, or call between 9am-Noon PST, M-F. I would love to hear from you!
